If we don’t call it a coincidence, then we can call it the coffee enthusiasm behind the creation of the Chicas Industry project. At the beginning was the desire to connect the two seemingly distant worlds of farmers with you, the roasters of the green bean. To create a long term and sustainable relationship between you, to develop and above all to sustain coffee culture in countries where it is disappearing due to low purchase prices and high costs, global warming and other factors.
We’ve been in the specialty coffee space since 2014. When Tereza was cupping Colombian coffees in 2018, she mentioned that if anyone wanted to join her on a trip to Latin America, to let her know. Karolína, whose lifelong dream was to import coffee to Europe, signed up.
Together they visited many farms, met countless farmers and at the end of this exotic trip, one of their now partner farmers, Ana Gloria Rodriguez, told them that she saw them as colleagues rather than importing competitors. And so Chicas Industry was born.
Eventually, the Chicas needed help. That’s when the second Tereza and Patrik stepped in.
It was just meant to be!
We see the same sense of fatefulness and a certain spark of enthusiasm in our projects. Working with inspiring people is an experience that recharges your batteries, not just theirs.
I’m a mompreneur, lover of foreign cultures and languages, and used to travel a lot. I’ve been around coffee since 2011, and specialty coffee since 2014. I’ve been gaining experience on farms, in roasters, and I’ve always been very lucky to have great teachers, people I’ve met along the way. One such person is definitely Karolína, with whom and thanks to whom we founded Chicas at the end of 2019. I am very excited for all that is to come in this amazing industry.
I’ve been making coffee since I was 19. Through commercial cafes in England I slowly got to the coffee shop and that’s where I stayed. Over time, I found that I was genuinely enjoying more and more things around coffee and when I visited the growing country for the first time in 2015, I wanted to learn even more. Luckily, fate threw my cards in the court of Tereza, an enthusiastic coffee girl who makes discovery easier. What I enjoy most about coffee is probably its variability, nothing is ever a given and there is always something to learn.
Terezka studies floristry, but her heart beats just as strongly for coffee. She has a wide range of experience – she has worked in several cafes, gone through roasting plants and once even made it to the national round of a barista competition. In our office, she is in charge of all the plants that not only live but thrive because of her. And if you come to our cupping, you definitely won’t miss her – she’s distinctly curly, chatty and always up for a coffee chat.
Patrik is a coffee enthusiast who loves to travel to international coffee events and festivals for inspiration. As well as discovering new flavours, he enjoys the visual side of things – he often experiments with web design, so if something isn’t working on our website, it’s probably his fault. But his main platform is the written word – he works as a coffee journalist for Káva spojuje online magazine, where he covers interviews, reviews and coffee trends.

On trade and the relationship with farms in Colombia
„Před pikolou za pikolou“ with Ana Gloria Rodriguez
Our flagship. We are Chicas, and from the beginning we have put an emphasis on supporting women and girls in this industry. We select coffee for you from women farmers in Colombia. They are often single mothers.
We do know their stories, farms and we fully believe in coffee, which they grow and we want to show it to the world. Believe us, girls in Colombia generally don’t have it easy, doubly so for women farmers trying to break through to export coffee abroad.
At the seminars, women learn about the coffee business, from fermentations and proper care of the farm to establishing your own brand and entering international trade.
Chicas Industry is not just a company, it is a concept that connects. We connect farmers, roasters, coffee enthusiasts and end customers. We build bridges between worlds, providing authentic and honest communication.
Our vision and ideas for the future:
support for improving farm infrastructure (water purification system, coffee processing and drying facilities)
improving access to education (sharing experiences with other farmers and abroad, access to laboratories)
